The importance of donating to Al Masjid Al Aqsa:
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) relates, “I asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), O Rasulullah, tell us the legal injunction about [visiting] Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem).” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Go and pray there. If you cannot visit it and pray there, then send some oil to be used in the lamps.”
I was told that this Hadith is in Sahih Bukhari.
I tried to locate this Hadith in Sahih Bukhari but I could not locate it. I found it in Sunan Abi Dawud.
- Is the Hadith in Sahih Bukhari?
- Is the Hadith in Sunan Abi Dawud weak? If it is weak is it suitable to quote?
1) I have not come across this Hadith in Sahih Bukhari.
2) The version of Sunan Abi Dawud that you have cited, also appears in the following sources as part of a longer narration:
Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Abi Ya’la and others. They have all recorded this on the authority of Sayyidah Maymunah (radiyallahu ‘anha) and not Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Ibn Majah authentic. ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators of Abu Ya’la reliable. ‘Allamah Burhanud Din Naji (rahimahullah) has also declared the Hadith sound (hasan).
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 458, Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1407, Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 7088. Refer: Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 463, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 4 pg. 6-7, ‘Ujalatul Imla, vol. 3 pg. 218, Maktabatul Ma’arif edition)
The Hadith in question is suitable to quote.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
