Question

Is this du’a suitable for practice?

Du’a for fear and insomnia:

اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أعُوذُ بكَ مِنَ الكُفْرِ والفَقْرِ، اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أعُوذُ بكَ مِنْ عذابِ القَبْرِ لا إلهَ إلاَّ أنتَ

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal kufri wal faqri Allahumma inni a’udhi bika min ‘adhabil qabri La ilaha illa anta

Answer

I have not come across these words as a du’a for fear and insomnia specifically, neither does its meaning have any such purport.

Imam Abu Dawud and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumallah) have recorded this du’a as part of a longer narration. Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would recite this du’a thrice every morning and evening [as a general du’a] as he heard Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) reciting it.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 5049, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 42. Also see here)

See a du’a for insomnia here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
