There is a famous incident mentioned about a Sahabi having meals in the King’s palace when he dropped a morsel. Whilst cleaning and eating it one man told him how can you do that here. He replied: Should I leave the Sunnah of my beloved for these Fools?!

The du’a that is read when leaving one’s home,

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

bismillahi tawakkaltu ‘alallahi wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

Is the wa before la hawla found in the books of Hadith or is it an addition made from the side of people?

Saying JazakAllahu khayra

Question

When saying thanking someone should one say JazakAllah or should the addendum “Khayra” be added? Is there any narration that states or allows just the words “JazakAllah” without the addition of “Khayra” As I have heard that JazakAllah alone could possibly be a curse too, (i.e. may Allah extract retributive justice from you) and I was led to believe that this a vestige of the Khawarij?
