Kindly provide the reference for the following Hadith:

My Rabb commanded me to lengthen my beard and clip my moustache

Answer

The Hadith in question is part of a lengthy narration, reported with variations in the words. It can be found in the following books with it’s full chain:

1) At Tabaqatul Kubra of Ibn Sa’d, vol. 1 pg. 449

2) Musnad Al Harith; Bughyatul Bahith, Hadith: 592

3) Al Amali of Ibn Bishran, Hadith: 128

Ibn Jarir (rahimahullah) and Muhammad ibn Ishaq (rahimahullah) -who is an authority in the field of Tarikh- have also recorded the exact words in question.
