Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever kills a small bird for no reason, it will beseech Allah on the Day of Qiyamah saying, ‘O my Rabb, so and so killed me for no reason. And he did not kill me for any beneficial purpose'”

 

Answer

Imam Nasai, Imam Ahmad and Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahumullah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Sharid ibn Suwayd (radiyallahu ‘anhu). Imam Ibn Hibban has declared the Hadith authentic.
