Question
Please provide the correct translation of this narration:
لا يحقرن أحدكم شيئا من المعروف، وإن لم يجد فليلق أخاه بوجه طلق، وإن اشتريت لحما أو طبخت قدرا فأكثر مرقته واغرف لجارك منه
Answer
The translation is as follows:
None of you should consider any good deed to be insignificant. If he has nothing [to give] then he should meet his brother with a smiling face. And if you buy some meat or cook something, then increase the gravy, and serve some of it to your neighbour.
Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith as worded above on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and has declared the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih)
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1833)
Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) and others have recorded this as two separate narrations.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2625 and 2626)
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
