Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumallah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 801 and Musnad Ahmad, vol. 2 pg. 186/187)

‘Allamah Mundhiri and ‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahumallah) have declared the narrators reliable.

(Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 282 and Zawaid Ibn Majah, pg. 136, Hadith: 271)

Translation

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr says, “We performed Maghrib Salah with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). [After Maghrib] Some returned home and some remained behind. Then Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) came back in a hurry, out of breath, with his garment pulled up to his knees and said: ‘Glad tidings, your Rabb has opened one of the doors of Jannah and is boasting of you before the Angels, saying: ‘Look at My slaves, they have fulfilled one obligatory duty [Fard] and are awaiting another.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
