Question 

What is the status of the following Hadith:

“Allah has cursed the private parts (furuj) of those women who sit on saddles”

Answer

The Hadith in question has been cited in certain non Hadith books. However Mullah ‘Ali Al Qari (rahimahullah) has deemed the Hadith baseless.

It should therefore not be quoted.

(Al Asrarul Marfu’ah, Hadith: 363)

Note: The Fuqaha (Jurists) who opine that it is reprehensible (Makruh) for women to ride horses have cited various other reasons and proofs to substantiate this. The answer I have provided should therefore not be viewed as a Fiqh ruling.
