Question
Is this narration authentic?
Answer
Imam Ahmad and other Muhaddithun have recorded this narration. ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators of Musnad Ahmad reliable.
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 6 pg. 112-113, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 9 pg. 4)
Translation
Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) says:
The family of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had a wild animal. When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would leave, it would freely play and move around. When it sensed Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) presence, it would remain seated and not move about as long as Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) remained in the house, out of fear that it harm him.
This was probably before Madinah Munawwarah became a sanctuary, or the wild animal was brought from outside Madinah.
(Hashiyatus Sindhi ‘Ala Musnadil Imam Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 508)
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
