Is the following quotation correctly attributed to Imam Ahmed Ibn Hambal (rahimahullah)? If not, is there any reliable source to it?

نفسي التي قتلتني بالمعاصي لا بد أن اقتص منها يوماً، وأقتلها في سبيل الله

Answer

I have not come across this statement attributed to Imam Ahmad ibn Hambal (rahimahullah) or any other pious predecessor in any primary or secondary source.
I am therefore unable to verify it.

Translation: My soul, which has destroyed me through sins, must one day face retribution, and I will subdue it in the path of Allah

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
