Question

I have heard an incident regarding Sayyiduna Abu Dujanah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) being given a sword by Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the Battle of Uhud.

Kindly mention the full incident.

Answer

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports, “On the Day of Uhud, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) took hold of a sword and asked, ‘Who will take this from me?’. The Sahabah all stretched out their hands saying, ‘I will, I will’. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said, ‘Who will take it fulfilling it’s right?’. The Sahabah then withdrew. Simak ibn Kharashah Abu Dujanah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, ‘I will take it fulfilling it’s right’. He took it and split the heads of the Polytheists.
