Question

In your answer regrading Surah Tahrim, you have mentioned that there is no authentic special virtue for reciting the Surah… I have come across the following virtue, is it authentic?

من قرأ سورة التحريم آتاه الله توبة نصوحاً

Answer

No it is not authentic.

This narration is part of the lengthy fabricated Hadith which mentions a virtue of reciting the various Surahs of the Quran.

The Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. The Hadith is not suitable to quote.

(Tafsir Zamakhshari, end of Surah Tahrim and Al Kafish Shaf, pg. 300, Hadith: 1214)

Translation

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever recites Surah Tahrim, Allah Ta’ala will grant him the ability to sincerely repent.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
