Question
Is this narration reliable?
Virtue of walking with an ‘Asa (cane)
“Walking with a stick is from humility. For each step, a person gets a thousand good deeds, and raising him a thousand levels.”
Answer
This narration is recorded in Musnadul Firdaws on the authority of Sayyidah Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu ‘anha).
Sayyidah Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Walking with a cane [‘asa] is from humility. For each step a person takes [with a cane] he will receive 1000 good deeds and one thousand ranks will be raised for him.”
(Musnadul Firdaws, Hadith: 6661)
However, the Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. It is therefore not suitable to quote.
