Question

In the following narration is there any mention of who this Sahabi was?

Answer

This version appears in Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq. After this narration, the narrator mentions that according to some, the Ansari referred to in this incident is believed to be Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Rawahah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). In other versions of the Hadith, his name is explicitly mentioned. See here

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once ascended the pulpit on the day of Jumu’ah and said: “Sit down.” An Ansari Sahabi heard Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) while on the pathway. He had not entered the Masjid. He [immediately] sat down in Bani Ghanm. When Salah started, he entered. [After Salah] Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asked, “Did you not leave?” He informed him of what had transpired. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “[You have done] good.” The narrator states that some have mentioned him to be ‘Abdullah ibn Rawahah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
