Question
What is the authenticity of this narration?
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Dajjal will emerge from among the Jews of Asbahan and with him will be seventy thousand Jews wearing crowns”
Answer
Imam Ahmad, Imam Abu Ya’la and others have recorded this narration. Some editions of Musnad Ahmad have the Arabic word ‘تيجان’, crowns. However, in reliable editions of Musnad Ahmad and in Musnad Abu Ya’la, the word ‘سيجان’ appears instead, which refers to green shawls.
The translation in this case is as follows:
Dajjal will emerge from among the Jews of Asbahan and with him will be seventy thousand Jews wearing green shawls.
This is further substantiated by the following narration recorded by Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) in his Sahih. Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Seventy thousand Jews from Asbahan will follow Dajjal, they will be wearing shawls”
