Question
Is there any reliable narration that mentions that the animal of Abu Muslim Al Khawlani (rahimahullah) died and Allah Ta’ala had given it life again?
Answer
I haven’t seen this exactly about Imam Abu Muslim Al-Khawlani (rahimahullah), although he was indeed ‘sahibul karamat’ (a person on whose hands Allah Ta’ala showed many miracles).
Imam Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded the following about Imam Abu Muslim’s animal:
Once Abu Muslim (rahimahullah) purchased a mule. His wife asked him to make du’a to Allah Ta’ala for barakah (blessing) in it. He made du’a with the following words:
‘O Allah, grant us barakah in it.’
After a while it died. He then bought another one. This time his wife made the same request, to which he replied: Rather say: O Allah, allow us to benefit from it.
This mule survived [longer].
(Mujabud Da’wah, Hadith: 79; Mawsu’ah Ibn Abid Dunya, Hadith: 9824)
A different incident
Imam Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded another incident about a Muhajir (radiyallahu’anhu) whose donkey died, while he was out in the path of Allah. He made du’a, and Allah Ta’ala revived the donkey which lived for a good period thereafter.
(Mujabud Da’wah, Hadith: 40; Mawsu’ah Ibn Abid Dunya, Hadith: 9785)
This incident doesn’t mention the person as Abu Muslim Khawlani (rahimahullah) who was a Tabi’i, and not a Sahabi anyway.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
