Question

Is الدار قطني written as one word or two words?

Answer

Ad-Daraqutni (الدَّارَقُطْنِي) is written as one word.

It is an attirbution (nisbah) derived from the name of a large locality in Baghdad, Darul Qutn (دار القطن), which is written as two words. In the attributed form, the two words are combined and treated as one name.

(See Al Ansab of As-Sam’ani, vol. 5, pg. 245)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
