Isal-thawab (dedicating reward) for the living

Question

Is there a Hadith regarding conveying Isaale Sawaab to those who are living? JazakAllah khaira

Answer

Up to 7 different Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) have reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wa sallam) slaughtered 2 sheep on the day of ‘Eidul Adha. One of them he slaughtered on behalf of his Ummah. In some narrations this is reported to have been a habit of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam)

Rasululullah’s (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) word’s were:

O Allah! This one is on behalf of those in my ummah that have professed your tawhid (oneness)

This hadith is recorded in several hadith books, like:

Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan Ibn Majah, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Musnad Ahmad etc.

Refer to Nasbur Rayah, hadith: 4715-4724.

The above includes all Muslims, those who were living, who had died by then and those to come.

Also see Al-Hidayah, vol.1 pg.296.
