What is the source of this Hadith?
The Messenger of Allah once passed by a man milking a sheep. He said “Leave some for the lamb for it is the most obedient animal.”
Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once passed by a man who was milking an ewe and said: “When milking, leave some for the lamb [for it is] the child of the animal.” (أي فلان، إذا حلبت فأبق لولدها من ابن الدواب)
In Al Mu’jamul Awsat, the wording is, “Leave some for its offspring, for it is among the most obedient of animals.” (فإنها من أبر الدواب)
(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 14704 and Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 889)
‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable of Al Mu’jamul Kabir reliable. (ورجال الكبير رجال الصحيح غير عبد الله بن جبارة وهو ثقة)
