Question
Where can I find a detailed discussion about the Ahadith of Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) that are corroborated by other Sahabah?
Jazakallahu Khairan
Answer
My Honourable Teacher; Al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (may Allah Ta’ala protect him) once mentioned that the renowned Shaykh Muhammad Muntasir Al-Kattani (rahimahullah) while teaching the book: Musnad Ahmad, had conducted a study in to the Hadiths of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) that appear in Musnad Ahmad – which is among the biggest collections of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah’s Hadiths today-.
He found that all of them were corroborated by reports of other Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) besides three or four.
This sufficiently rebuts the flimsy allegation that Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) had made up Hadiths just to gain popularity. Click here for a detailed article on a similar issue.
In one Narration of Sahih Bukhari, Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) even says that there are several more Hadiths that he hadn’t quoted [for fear of them being misunderstood or misused]. If his concern was popularity, he wouldn’t have hesitated to add to the numbers of his Hadiths, irrespective of the fear of being misunderstood….
May Allah Ta’ala save us from such foul accusations against those who were chosen by Allah Ta’ala for the companionship of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).
Note: I subsequently asked my Beloved Shaykh ‘Awwamah (may Allah protect him) if this study was ever printed. He replied in the negative.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
