Can I quote this?

“You will be unable to taste the sweetness of the hereafter as long as you like to be known.”

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya and Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as the statement of Bishr ibnul Harith Al Hafi (rahimahullah), the famous ascetic [Demise: 227 A.H.].

The narration may be quoted as such.

Bishr Al Hafi (rahimahullah) said: “A man who loves to be known by people will not taste the sweetness of the Hereafter.”
