Question
Can you confirm the authenticity of the Hadith where Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said that the people of Badr are the best of companions, and Allah has looked at them, and said do as you please for Allah has forgiven you.”
Answer
This is part of a lengthier Hadith recorded by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah). The Hadith is therefore authentic. The part you querying is as follows:
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ” He (Sayyiduna Hatib ibn Abi Balta’ah) was a participant in Badr, and what will inform you? Perhaps Allah looked down on the people of Badr and said, ‘Do what you like. I have forgiven you”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3007 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2494)
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
