Answer

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) states that he has not come across any source/basis for this. However, the following Verse supports the meaning: “These are their homes that lie in ruins because of their oppression” [Surah Naml, Verse: 52)

(Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 474. Also see: Kashful Khafa: 1280)

The meaning is therefore correct. However, These words should not be quoted as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam),

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

كشف الخفاء:
(١٢٨٠) – (دار الظالم خراب ولو بعد حين) قال في المقاصد لم أقف عليه، ولكن يشهد له قوله تعالى … {فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً بِمَا ظَلَمُوا} … وزاد النجم قال كعب لأبي هريرة: في التوراة من يظلم يخرب بيته، فقال أبو هريرة وكذلك في كتاب الله … {فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً بِمَا ظَلَمُوا}… والمشهور على الألسنة دار الظالمين بالجمع.
