Question

To what extent the following story is authentic? can you provide a reference?

A Jew treated Ramadan with a great respect. Once, after seeing his son eating food outside during Ramadan, he said “Muslims do not eat during a day. Are you making fun of them?” and hit on his son’s head. After the death of this Jew, one person saw him in a dream walking in Jannah. He asked how could he walk in Jannah as he was a Jew, to that he responded “I respected Ramadan. For that reason Allah ordered his angels to take my soul after I was guided to become a Muslim”

Answer

I haven’t seen any reference for this incident.

However, incidents of this nature are not far fetched. Respect for the symbols of Allah, have great benefit, just as disrespecting them is very detrimental as well. There are numerous incidents of this kind that are quoted by reliable ‘Ulama, regarding people who were guided because of acts of respect.

The scholars have mentioned that for inspirational stories, reference is not a criteria.
