The virtue of the last three Verses of Surah Saffat

Question

Kindly provide a Hadith mentioning the virtue regarding the following last three Verses of Surah Saffat:

سبحان ربك رب العزة عما يصفون وسلام على المرسلين والحمد لله رب العالمين

Answer

1) Sha’bi (rahimahullah) relates, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whomsoever desires to receive a large amount of reward on the Day of Qiyamah should recite the following at the end of a gathering when he intends to stand up:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ، وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Subhana Rabbika Rabbil ‘Izzati ‘amma yasifun wa salamun ‘alal Mursalin wal hamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalamin

Your Rabb, the Rabb of all honour is Pure from what [partners] they attribute to Him. Peace be upon the Ambiya and all praise belongs to Allah, the Rabb of the universe.

(Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim, Surah Saffat, Verse: 180-182 –mursalan– with an authentic chain. Refer: Nataijul Afkar, vol. 2 pg. 306 and Tafsir Ibn Kathir. See here)

2) Sayyiduna Abu Said (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was asked, “Have you memorised some [du’a] that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would recite after making salam [to terminate Salah]?’ He said, ‘Yes, he would recite:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ، وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Subhana Rabbika Rabbil ‘Izzati ‘amma yasifun wa salamun ‘alal Mursalin wal hamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalamin

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 3114 and Musnad Abi Ya’la, with a very weak chain. Refer: Tafsir ibn Kathir, Surah Saffat, Verse: 180-182, Nataijul Afkar, vol. 2 pg. 306, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 148 and footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf, Hadith: 3114)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
