“Unity is a mercy and division is a punishment”

 

Answer

Yes, this is part of a longer narration recorded in Musnad Ahmad [Zawaid ‘Abdullah], on the authority of Sayyiduna Nu’man ibn Bashir (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Musnad Ahmad; Zawaid ‘Abdullah ibn Imam Ahmad, vol. 4, pg. 278 and vol. 4, pg. 375)

Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain sound.

This Hadith is referring to unity/division of the hearts, and not in viewpoints…
