Was Qadi Shurayh a Sahabi?

Was a Qadi Shurayh a Sahabi or a Mukhadram?

‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) states that some have claimed he was a Sahabi. However, this is incorrect. The correct view is that he accepted Islam during the lifetime of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) but only moved out of Yemen during the khilafah of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

‘Allamah Mizzi (rahimahullah) has also echoed similar sentiments.

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded him to be from among the Mukhadramun.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
