Question

Is this statement authentically attributed to Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) and the Arabic text of it?

“And from misery is that you love, and [the one] who you love, loves other than you, or that you want good for a person, and he wants to hurt you.”

Answer

These words are attributed to Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) in non primary sources.

(Diwan Imam Shafi’i, pg. 51)

I have not come across this in any other source.

Arabic text:

من الشقاوة أن تحب ومن تحب يحب غيرك
أو أن تريد الخير للإنسان وهو يريد ضيرك
