Question

Is this Hadith reliable?

“Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala despite the wrath of people, Allah Ta’ala will be pleased with him and make the people happy with him. Whoever seeks the pleasure of people despite the wrath of Allah Ta’ala, then Allah Ta’ala will become angry with him and also make the people angry with him”

Answer

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in his Sahih on the authority of Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha).

(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 276)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has also recorded this narration with slight variation in the wording. See this version here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
