Question

What is the grade of this Hadith:

“There is no human being except that the wisdom of his mind is in the hands of an Angel. When he shows humility, the Angel is ordered to increase his wisdom. When he displays arrogance/pride, the Angel is ordered to decrease his wisdom.”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 12939)

Hafiz Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the chain sound (hasan). This Hadith is also supported by a similar narration in Musnad Bazzar reported by Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
