Question

Is there any authentic dhikr for after the Jumu’ah salah? Or are they the same as the dhikrs after the general fard prayers?

 

Answer

In addition to the normal recitals for after every fard salah, one should add the following:

Sayyidatuna ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever recites the following surahs 7 times, before talking to anyone after the Jumu’ah salah, will be protected till the following Jumu’ah:

Surah Ihklas,

Surah Falaq

Surah Nas”

(‘Amalul yawmi wal laylah of Ibnus Sunni, Hadith: 375)

This is suitable for practice and is well supported by similar reports from other Sahabah and Tabi’un (radiyallahu ‘anhum)

Among them are:

Sayyidatuna Asma (radiyallahu ‘anha)

(Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 5621 and 30218, Shu’abul Iman of Imam Bayhaqi, Hadith: 2342, Fadailul Quran of Abu ‘Ubayd, pg. 146 and Fadailul Quran of Ibnud Durays, Hadith: 290)

Imam Zuhri (rahimahullah)

(Shu’abul Iman, after Hadith: 2342 and Fadailul Quran of Abu ‘Ubayd, pg. 146)

And Imam Makhul (rahimahullah)

(Sunan Sa’id ibn Mansur; Al-Futuhatur Rabbaniyyah, vol. 4, pg. 232-233)

Note 1: Some versions add Surah Fatihah at the beginning.

Note 2: “Protection” in this Hadith refers to protection of one’s wealth, family as well as one’s worldly and religious affairs.

Note 3: In an era of uncertainty like our’s, this recital is very pertinent, and should not be ignored…
