What is the Arabic and text and exact reference for this narration?

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) advised: “Ensure that you spend the nights in wudu, for the souls will be raised in the condition [of purity] that they were taken in.”

 

Answer

This narration is recorded in Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq and Shu’abul Iman. The Arabic text is as follows:

لا تنامن إلا على وضوء، فإن الأرواح تبعث على ما قبضت عليه

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 19844, Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 4386)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has cited the narration with slight variation in the wording. He has referenced the narration to Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq and has declared the narrators credible.

(١٩٨٤٤) – أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، عن أبي بكر بن عياش، قال: أخبرني أبو يحيى، أنه سمع مجاهدا يقول: قال لي ابن عباس: لا تنامن إلا على وضوء، فإن الأرواح تبعث على ما قبضت عليه.

شعب الإيمان:
(٤٣٨٦) – وبهذا الإسناد أنا عبد الرزاق، عن أبي بكر بن عياش، قال: أخبرني أبو يحيى، أنه سمع مجاهدا، يقول: قال لي ابن عباس: لا تنامن إلا على وضوء، فإن الأرواح تبعث على ما قبضت عليه.

فتح الباري: (١١/ ١١٠ رقم: ٦٣١١)
وقد أخرج عبد الرزاق من طريق مجاهد قال قال لي بن عباس لا تبيتن إلا على وضوء فإن الأرواح تبعث على ما قبضت عليه ورجاله ثقات إلا أبا يحيى القتات هو صدوق فيه كلام.
