Question

Please provide me with the authenticity of the following narration:

عن أم حكيم قالت: قُتِلَ الْحُسَیْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَأَنَا یَوْمَئِذٍ جُوَیْرِیة، فَمَکَثَتِ السَّمَاءُ أَیَّامًا مِثْلَ الْعَلَقة

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Ummu Hakim (rahimahallah).

(Al-Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 2836)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has graded all of the narrators up to Ummu Hakim as authentic (ورجاله إلى أم حكيم رجال الصحيح)

(Majzma’uz Zawaid, vol. 9, pg. 196)

Translation

Ummu Hakim (rahimahallah) said: “I was a small girl on that day when Husayn ibn ‘Ali [radiyallahu ‘anhuma] was killed. The sky then remained [red] for days like a blood clot.”

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
