Is this narration authentic?

‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “Do you not grow jealous! When you let your wives walk among men and see each other!”

Answer

The following narration is recorded in Musnad Ahmad (Zawaid ‘Abdullah ibn Imam Ahmad):

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “Do you not feel possessive jealousy/feel shy that your wives emerge [from your homes]? It has reached me that your women are going to the marketplaces crowding with burly men?”

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1, pg. 133)

حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني أبو السري هناد بن السري، حدثنا شريك، وحدثنا علي بن حكيم الأودي، أخبرنا شريك، عن أبي إسحاق، عن هبيرة، عن علي، قال علي بن حكيم في حديثه: «أما تغارون أن تخرج نساؤكم؟ وقال هناد في حديثه: ألا تستحيون أو تغارون؟ فإنه بلغني أن نساءكم يخرجن في الأسواق يزاحمن العلوج؟!».
