لا أعلم رجلا أحب أن يعرف إلا ذهب دينه وافتضح

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of Bishr ibnul Harith Al Hafi (rahimahullah) the famous ascetic [Demise: 227 A.H.].

Bishr Al Hafi (rahimahullah) said: “I have never known anyone who loved to be known except that he lost his Din and was disgraced.”

(At Tawadu’ wal Khumul: 72)

(٧٢) – حدثني الحسن بن عبد الرحمن قال: قال بشر بن الحارث رحمه الله: «لا أعلم رجلا أحب أن يعرف إلا ذهب دينه وافتضح».
قال: وقال بشر بن الحارث: «لا يجد حلاوة الآخرة رجل يحب أن يعرفه الناس».
