Question

Please translate this du’a and provide the reference:

اللهم اجعل عملي صالحا واجعله لك خالصا ولا تجعل لأحد فيه شيئا

Answer

This is recorded in Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) as a du’a of Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would supplicate:

اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ عَمَلِي صَالِحًا وَاجْعَلْهُ لَكَ خَالِصًا وَلَا تَجْعَلْ لِأَحَدٍ فِيهِ شَيْئًا

Transliteration: Allahummaj ‘al ‘amali saliha waj’alhu laka khalisa wa la taj’al li ahadin fihi shay-an

Translation: O Allah, make my deeds righteous, make them purely for your sake and do not allow anyone to have any share in them.
