Question
I would like to know about the following message someone sent on ‘Eidul Fitr. Is it mentioned in a Hadith, what is the status of the Hadith?
Whosoever on the Day of ‘Id recites ‘Subhanallahi wa bi hamdihi’ three hundred’ times, and sends the reward of this recitation to the Ruh (souls) of all the Deceased Muslims, Allah will make one thousand (1000) lights enter all of their graves and when the reciter will die Allah will cause one thousand (1000) lights to enter his grave also.
Answer
The Hadith in question is cited in certain non primary Hadith sources without a chain of narrators.
(Refer: Mukashafatul Qulub, pg. 296 and Nuzhatul Majalis, pg. 212)
I could not locate a chain of narrators for this Hadith and can therefore not verify the authenticity.
One should be cautious and abstain from quoting a Hadith (like the one in question) when the Hadith is untraceable in any original Hadith source, until its authenticity can be verified.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
