Question
I’ve heard of a narration that ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) narrates that because the Prophet (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) kept mentioning Khadija (radiyallahu ‘anha), she (‘Aaishah) made a remark about her, and the Prophet (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) then confessed that Allah Ta’ala did not give him (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) better than Khadija (radiyallahu ‘anha). Please quote source, text, and grading.
Answer
Sayyidatuna ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu’anha) says:
‘I never felt self honour (ghayrah) for any woman like I felt for Sayyidatuna Khadijah, although I never saw her. Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) would speak a lot about her. Sometimes after slaughtering a goat, he would send portions to her friends. I once said to him: ‘It seems as if there was no other woman in this world other than Khadijah?!’
Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) (affectionately remembering her love) would say:
‘Indeed she was [unique etc], indeed she was. I had my children with her.’
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3818)
In other narrations Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) elaborated more on her merits saying:
‘She believed in me when the people disbelieved. She testified in me when they denied me, she assisted me financially when others deprived me and Allah Ta’ala granted me children from her and not from other women.’
(Musnad Ahmad, vol.6 pg.118, also see Fathul Bari, Hadith: 3818)
In a narration of Sahih Muslim, He (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘I have been endowed with love for her.’
(Sahih Muslim)
I haven’t seen the words you cited at the end of your question, as part of this particular narration.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
