تلا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم هذه الآية «قوا أنفسكم وأهليكم نارا» فقالوا: يا رسول الله كيف نقي أهلنا نارا قال: «تأمرونهم بما يحبه الله وتنهونهم عما يكره الله»

‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has cited this narration and has referenced the narration to Ibn Marduyah, which is not available currently.

I have not come across the chain and can therefore not comment on the authenticity.

Translation

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) recited the Verse ‘Save yourselves and your families from the Fire.’ The Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) said, “O Rasulullah! How do we protect our families from the Fire?” He replied, “Order them [to carry out those deeds] that please Allah and prohibit them from [carrying out deeds] that Allah dislikes.”

 

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
