Can this narration be quoted?

It is narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) that once he was on a journey and heard the sound of a flute. He immediately blocked his ears with his fingers and moved away to where he could no longer the sound. He then informed his servant, Nafi, that he had seen Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) do likewise.

 

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has authenticated it. It may be quoted.

Once Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) heard a musical instrument being played. He placed his fingers in his ears and veered off to one side of the road. He then asked Nafi’: “Can you hear anything”? Nafi’ replied: “No.” He then took his fingers out of his ears and said: I was with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and he also did the same when he heard a musical instrument being played.

(٤٨٨٩) – حدثنا أحمد بن عبيد الله الغُدَاني، حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم، حدثنا سعيد بن عبد العزيز، عن سليمان بن موسى، عن نافع، سمع ابنُ عمر مزمارًا، قال: فوضع إصبَعيه على أُذنيه، ونأى عن الطريق وقال لي: يا نافعُ هل تسمع شيئًا؟ قال: قلت: لا، فرفع إصبَعيه من أُذنيه، وقال: كنت مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فسمع مثلَ هذا، فصنع مثلَ هذا.
قال أبو داود: هذا حديث منكر.

صحيح ابن حبان:
(٦٩٣) – أخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد الأزدي حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم أخبرنا الوليد بن مسلم عن سعيد بن عبد العزيز عن سليمان بن موسى عن نافع قال: سمع بن عمر صوت زمارة راعي قال: فجعل إصبعيه في أذنيه وعدل عن الطريق وجعل يقول: يا نافع أتسمع؟ فأقول: نعم فلما قلت: لا راجع الطريق، ثم قال: هكذا رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يفعله.
