Question

What is the authenticity of the following Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever shakes the hand of a pious person or hugs him, Allah will make Jannah compulsory for him and it is as though he has shaken hands with the legs of the ‘Arsh. If he hugs him his sins will be forgiven and he will enter Jannah without reckoning”

Answer

Imam Daylami (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. However, ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has cited this narration in his book on fabricated Hadiths. The Hadith in question should not be quoted.

(٨٣٨) – الديلمي: أخبرنا بنجير عن جعفر الأبهري أخبرنا إسماعيل بن الحسين البخاري عن أبي بكر أحمد بن [سعد] بن نصر بن بكار  عن أبي الفضل محمد بن داود  عن سعيد بن عبد الرحمن المخزومي عن ابن عيينة عن الزهري عن عروة عن عائشة قالت: قال رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم -: «من صافح عبدا صالحا أو عانقه أوجب الله له الجنة وكأنما صافح أركان العرش، فإن عانقه غفرت له ذنوبه ودخل الجنة بغير حساب».

تنزيه الشريعة: (٢/ ٣١٤)
حديث: «من صافح عبدا صالحا وعانقه أوجب الله له الجنة وكأنما صافح أركان العرش، فإن عانقه غفرت ذنوبه ودخل الجنة بغير حساب» (مي) من حديث أبي هريرة (قلت) لم يبين علته، وفيه أبو بكر أحمد بن سعيد بن نصر بن بكار لم أقف له على ترجمة عن محمد بن داود، وفي الثقات والمجروحين محمد بن داود جماعة ولا أدري أيهم هذا والله تعالى أعلم.
