Question
I recently heard a Hadith. Can you tell me the reference?
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as Siddiq (radiyallahu ‘anhu) once asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam):
“Is there a jihad better than the jihad against the disbelievers? Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Yes O Abu Bakr. Allah Ta’ala has mujahids on earth who are better than martyrs. They are alive and eating. They walk on earth and Allah Ta’ala boasts about them to the angels in the sky. Jannah is adorned for them just as Sayyidah Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu ‘anha) adorns herself for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).”
Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) asked, “Who are they O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, “They are those who enjoin good and forbid evil. They love for the sake of Allah and hate for the sake of Allah.” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) further explained that they will have homes in Jannah above the martyrs. Each room will have three hundred thousand doors of precious gems and celestial light. They will have three hundred hurs…
Answer
‘Allamah Subki (rahimahullah) has stated that he has not come across any source for this narration. ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has mentioned the same and has also declared the text unreliable (munkar).

The narration in question is therefore not suitable to quote. There are authentic virtues of enjoining good and forbidding evil. These should be quoted instead.

(٦/ ٣٢١) – حديث أبي ذر قال أبو بكر هل من جهاد غير قتال المشركين. قال: «نعم يا أبا بكر إن لله مجاهدين في الأرض أفضل من الشهداء… الحديث بطوله في الأمر بالمعروف».
تخريج أحاديث الإحياء = المغني عن حمل الأسفار:
(٢٢٥٠) – حديث أبي ذر: قال أبو بكر يا رسول الله هل من جهاد غير قتال المشركين؟ قال: «نعم يا أبا بكر إن لله تعالى مجاهدين في الأرض أفضل من الشهداء» فذكر الحديث وفيه فقال: «هم الآمرون بالمعروف والناهون عن المنكر والمحبون في الله والمبغضون في الله» ثم قال: «والذي نفسي بيده إن العبد منهم ليكون في الغرفة فوق الغرفات فوق غرف الشهداء للغرفة منها ثلاثمائة ألف باب منها الياقوت والزمرد الأخضر على كل باب نور وإن الرجل منهم ليزوج بثلاثمائة ألف حوراء قاصرات الطرف عين كلما التفت إلى واحدة منهن فنظر إليها تقول له: أتذكر يوم كذا وكذا أمرت بالمعروف ونهيت عن المنكر؟ كلما نظر إلى واحدة منهن ذكرت له مقاما أمر فيه بمعروف ونهى فيه عن منكر»
بطوله لم أقف له على أصل وهو منكر.
