Question

Previously you have cited a reference for the famous du’a when entering the Masjid:

Allahummaf tah li abwaba Rahmatik

I am looking for a source for the second part of this du’a that is commonly recited:

Wa sahhil li abwaba Rizqik.

Can you please assist?

Answer

This extra is recorded in Musnad Abi ‘Awanah, Hadith: 1236

The full wording that appears in this narration is as follows:

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لَنَا أبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وسَهِّلْ لَنَا أبْوَابَ رِزْقِكَ

Allahummaf tah lana abwaba Rahmatik, wa sahhil lana abwaba Rizqik.

Translation: O Allah! open for us the doors of your mercy, and make easy for us the doors of your sustenance.

This is a much needed du’a for us all, who are indeed in need of Allah’s mercy as well as His sustenance…

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
