I am searching for the reference of this hadith

صلاح أول هذه الأمة بالزهد واليقين ويهلك آخرها بالبخل والأمل

Answer

This Hadith is recorded in Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam Ahmad. It is suitable to quote.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The righteousness of the early part of this ummah was through asceticism and certainty, while its latter part will be ruined by miserliness and hopes/expectations.”

(Az Zuhd, Hadith: 52. Also See: Targhib, vol. 4, pg, 160)
