Is this Hadith correct?

يقبض الصالحون الأول فالأول وتبقى حفالة كحفالة التمر والشعير لا يعبأ الله بهم شيئا

Answer

Yes, Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this particular version of the Hadith as the statement of Sayyiduna Mirdas Al Aslami (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has also recorded similar wording as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). See here 

Sayyiduna Mirdas Al Aslami (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:

“Pious people will pass away in succession and there will remain the dregs of society who will be like the dregs/husks of dates and barley. Allah will not pay any attention to them.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 4156)

Disclaimer: In principle, the signs of Qiyamah are ambiguous and nuanced and only Allah Ta’ala Knows their precise timing and exact application. One should certainly take heed from such Hadiths and signs, despite their application to specific events being open to interpretation.

(٤١٥٦) – حدثنا إبراهيم بن موسى، أخبرنا عيسى، عن إسماعيل، عن قيس، أنه سمع مرداسا الأسلمي، يقول: وكان من أصحاب الشجرة: «يقبض الصالحون، الأول فالأول، وتبقى حفالة كحفالة التمر والشعير، لا يعبأ الله بهم شيئا».
(٦٤٣٤) – حدثني يحيى بن حماد، حدثنا أبو عوانة، عن بيان، عن قيس بن أبي حازم، عن مرداس الأسلمي، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: «يذهب الصالحون، الأول فالأول، ويبقى حفالة كحفالة الشعير، أو التمر، لا يباليهم الله بالة». قال أبو عبد الله: «يقال حفالة وحثالة».

(٦٤٣٤) – قال ابن بطال: في الحديث أن موت الصالحين من أشراط الساعة.
