Question
Is the following narration suitable to quote?
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) has reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
‘Beware of beardless youth for they are a greater source of mischief than young maidens.’
Answer
I have not managed to locate a Hadith with the aforementioned wording.
‘Allamah Khatib Baghdadi (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with the following wording:
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) has said: ‘Do not sit with the children of kings, for surely the souls (nafs) desire them unlike (i.e. even more so than) they desire free young maidens.’
The chain of this narration consists of a fabricator, and should therefore not be quoted as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam).
