‘Umar’s (radiyallahu’anhu) Islam

I came across the following Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:

I heard Sa`id bin Zaid bin `Amr bin Nufail saying in the mosque of Al-Kufa:

“By Allah, I have seen myself tied and forced by `Umar to leave Islam before `Umar himself embraced Islam…[..]”

My question is:

How does this fit with the well known story of Umar (radiyallahu’anhu)’s accepting Islam? In which, Umar (radiyallahu’anhu) isn’t aware about his sister and Sa’id (radiyallahu’anhu) being Muslims until he is told so by Na’im ibn Abdullah (radiyallahu’anhu), and the same day he accepts Islam so when would he have had time to tie up Sa’id (radiyallahu’anhu)?

Keeping children indoors when night sets in

What is meant by ‘when the darkness of the night envelopes’ in the following Hadith? Which time is it referring to?

‘Ata (rahimahullah) related that he heard Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) say that the Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“When the darkness of the night envelops–or it becomes nightfall–withhold your children (from going outside). Verily, the Jinn spread out at this time. Then, when part of the night has passed, let them go outside. And lock the doors whilst mentioning Allah’s name.” [Bukhari, Chapter of the Beginning of Creation]

Sayyidah Hawwa was created from the Rib of Nabi Adam (‘alayhimas salam)

I want to know that whether Sayyidah Hawwa was created from the ribs of Nabi Adam (‘alayhis salam) or the Hadith that states so has a metaphorical meaning?

And is the story of Sayyidah Hawwa’s creation from Nabi Adam (‘alayhis salam) from Israili Rawayat ?

Lastly, what is the meaning of نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ in verse 1 of Surah Nisa ?

Meaning of a poem that Sayyidatuna ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) recited upon visiting the grave of her brother

Can you please provide a background as to who was “companions of Jadhimah” as mentioned in the following Hadith:

“Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) passed away in Al Hubshi -approximately twelve miles out of Makkah-. His body was carried to Makkah to be buried there. When Sayyidatuna ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) arrived she went to the grave of Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr and recited the following couplets:

We were like two drinking companions of Jadhimah, who spent such a long time together, that it was said: ‘They will never part.’ So when we were separated -by your death- it was as if I and Malik – due to the length of unity – never spent a night together”

(Sunan Tirmidhi)

Unlimited reward for striving in the path of Allah

I have seen a Hadith saying Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘Striving in the part of Allah is better than all the good you can do for your family.’

The reference was mustadrak. How do we explain above Hadith with the other that says: the best of you is who is best to his family?

Dragged into Jannah in chains..

My question is about the commentary of these Hadiths:

–  “Sahih Bukhari (vol. 4, book 52, Hadith: 254) has a Hadith saying that,

“Allah wonders at those people who will enter Paradise in chains.”

– Abu Dawud’s version (Kitab al Jihad, Hadith: 2672) says:

Our Lord Most High is charmed with people who will be led to Paradise in chains.

1. This means that in a battle some unbelievers are captured and led to Muslim territory in chains. Later on they embrace Islam and thus enter Paradise by virtue of their belief.”

2. Another explanation I heard of this Hadith is that the Islamic system of shariah is so benevolent that the environment of Muslims who live in it will push them towards Jannah.

Can you please verify this commentary or any alternative commentaries the ulama have offered? Jazakallahu Khayran, Dear Ulama of Hadith,

Meaning of a Du’a

From the du’a below I am enquiring about this part:

Translation – I seek refuge in the noble being of Allah and with the complete words of Allah, (the knowledge of) which no righteous person or transgressor can surpass, from the evil of what descends from the sky and the evil of what ascends in it, and the evil of what He has spread in the earth and what emerges from it, and from the trials of the night and the day, and from comers by night and day, except for the nocturnal visitor who brings good. Leading the Tarawih whilst looking in to the Quran

Please clarify the issue of offering taraweeh prayer led by an imam who is not a hafiz and therefore reads from mushaf in a small community with no other masjid with a hafiz. Is it allowed?

In defense people quote that Sayyidatuna ‘Aishah (radiyallahu’anha) used to offer tarawih led by a slave who use to read from mushaf ( al bukhari in. mu’ allaq report 1/245) Jazakallah khayran

Meaning of Hadith relating to the heat and cold of Jahannam

Please provide a brief explanation to the following Hadith

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said,

“In very hot weather delay the Zuhr prayer till it becomes [a bit] cooler because the severity of heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire. The fire of Hell complained to its Lord saying: O Lord! My parts are eating [destroying] one another. So Allah allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 536 and 537)
