Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Do not be consumed with acquiring and purchasing farms/orchards lest you be desirous of the world”

 

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has declared the Hadith sound (hasan).

(٢٣٢٨) – حدثنا محمود بن غيلان قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا سفيان، عن الأعمش، عن شمر بن عطية، عن المغيرة بن سعد بن الأخرم، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن مسعود، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «لا تتخذوا الضيعة فترغبوا في الدنيا».
«هذا حديث حسن».
