Question
A woman left her marital home to go and live with her married daughter The husband pleaded with her to return but to no avail. Her brothers also made attempts at reconciliation asking her for the reasons of leaving her marital home. She refuses to disclose any reason and says she will go with it to the Qabr. The husband also cannot find any valid reason for her behaviour saying that there used to be an occasional argument but nothing further than this. Is this behaviour justified in the light of Quran and Hadith She refuses to see any ‘Alim. Can you provide any du’a to recite?
Answer
For a fatwa on her behavior etc. you should refer to a Mufti.
In the meantime however, have hope in Allah Ta’ala and recite the following:
-
اللَّهُمَّ آدِمْ بَيْنَنا
Allahumma aadim baynana
Translation: “O Allah, create love and mutual understanding between us”
Once when Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) was informed of a discord between two spouses, he recited the above du’a.
(Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 30495)
2. La hawla wala quwwata illa billah
Recite this abundantly. The Hadith promises it to be a means of alleviating worries.
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3601 and Mustadrak Hakim, vol.1 pg.542. Also see Targhib, vol.2 pg.444)
A personal friend of mine had a similar problem like yours, when he recited the above several hundred times each day, Allah inspired his wife to return.
May Allah Ta’ala do the same for you.
and He alone Knows best,
