Question

Please cite some important du’as taught by Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) for protection against a painful death.

 

Answer

Du’a for protection from the hardships of sakarat (pangs of death):

اَللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ

Allahumma a’inni ‘ala sakaratil mawt

Translation: O Allah, assist me in the difficulty of death and at the time of sakarat.

(Mustadrak Hakim, Hadith: 3731, 4386 – Hafiz Dhahabi has authenticated this Hadith.)
